A beautiful sunrise taken back in March 2020 just before lockdown was announced. I don’t often stay local for photography but as the world was slowing down I decided to stay in Glasgow for sunrise. I had checked the weather the night before and it was looking promising. I wasn’t disappointed when I arrived down at The Clyde River. I set up pretty quickly and the conditions stayed good for an hour and the colour just kept getting better and better.

The Tall Ship at The Riverside Museum looking pretty in pastel tones. This view point is just a 5 minute walk from my flat so will likely be a regular spot for any last minute sunrises/sunsets for me.

It was a 5am start that morning which for a landscape photographer is a lie in. I arrived down at the river at about 6am an hour ahead of the sunrising. I like to arrive early for golden hour and it gives me time to decide where to shoot from. The shots were all pretty effortless that morning and didn’t take much editing.

More colour! It’s not often you get reflections AND colour on The Clyde so I was so happy to come away with so many images. Normally it’s a good morning if you come away with one image.

I wasn’t going to take this shot but the light looked nice and soft. I only took this one image of this location as I didn’t think much of it at the time and packed up and went home. When i saw it on the big screen at home I really liked the soft light and probably should have stuck around a bit longer!

“I love early mornings when it feels like the rest of the world is still fast asleep and you’re the only one who’s awake and everything feels like it isn’t really real and you kind of forget all your problems because for now it’s just you, the world and the sunrise.”
